IAHD Pro-courses should be seen as a speciality on one’s current professional scuba diving education. We provide you with knowledge on the essentials to (also) teach disabled people to dive. It will broaden your horizon and clientele, thus enhances training opportunities.
Pro-Trainer
The Pro-Trainer course is a professional course designed to teach scuba professionals how to instruct disabled people.
To participate in the IAHD Pro-trainer course an individual must:
1. Be a renewed IAHD Training manager in active status.
2. Be a First Aid / CPR Instructor.
3. Submit a Medical Statement signed by a physician stating that the individual may participate in scuba Diving activities. The medical examination must have been conducted within the past 12 months.
4. Fill out and submit the IAHD Pro-course application form and comply with the requirements listed.
5. Undersign and submit the Pro Member Agreement and, where applicable, a liability waiver.
Note: In a limited number of cases the IAHD Director of Training and the President/CEO of the IAHD may appoint someone to be Pro-trainer without being a Course Director/Instructor Trainer with another international recognized training agency.
Training Manager
The Training Manager course is a professional course designed to assist a Pro-Trainer during a Pro-Training course. He or she can teach academic segments of the Pro-Training, supervise candidates during the pool and open water parts of the Pro-course and conduct any new non-professional programmes developed by the IAHD.
To qualify for Assistant Trainer an individual must:
1. Be a renewed IAHD Instructor.
2. Must have had a direct role in introducing or training disabled persons into scuba diving.
3. Must have assisted an IAHD Pro-trainer during 2 complete IAHD Pro-courses.
4. Submit a copy of a medical examination stating that the individual is fit for diving. The examination must have been conducted within the past twelve months.
5. Submit proof of training in First Aid / CPR within the past twenty four months.
6. Must have trained a minimum of 2 Dive Partners or Dive Leaders.
7. Undersign and submit the Pro Member Agreement and, where applicable, a liability waiver.
Assistant Instructor
The Assistant Instructor course is a professional course designed to assist an instructor who is teaching disabled people to dive. He or she acts as certified assistant to an IAHD Instructor during the Open Water Diver course and the Dive Partner course, independently conduct portions of an Open Water Diver course in accordance with the standards of ones primary diving association, independently conduct the IAHD Scuba Diving Experience programme and conduct the IAHD Surface Support Specialist programme and issue certification.
To participate in the IAHD Pro-Training the individual must:
1. Be certified as Assistant Instructor, or equivalent through an internationally recognised diving training organisation and in active status.
2. Submit a copy of a medical examination stating that the individual is fit for diving. The examination must have been conducted within the past twelve months.
3. Submit proof of training in First Aid / CPR within the past twenty four months.
4. Fill out and submit the IAHD Pro-course application form and comply with the requirements as listed.
5. Undersign and submit the Pro Member Agreement and, where applicable, a liability waiver.
Note: the Pro-Training is course is identical to the Pro-Training Instructor's course. The only distinction is the authority to teach and certify.
Divemaster
The Divemaster course is a professional course designed to assist an IAHD instructor during the Open Water Diver course and Dive Partner course. He or she is also allowed to conduct the IAHD Scuba Diving Experience program.
To participate in the IAHD Pro-Training the individual must:
1. Be certified as a Divemaster or equivalent through an internationally recognised diving training organisation and in active status.
2. Submit a copy of a medical examination stating that the individual is fit for diving. The examination must have been conducted within the past twelve months.
3. Submit proof of training in First Aid / CPR within the past twenty four months.
4. Fill out and submit the IAHD Pro-course application form and comply with the requirements as listed.
5. Undersign and submit the Pro Member Agreement and, where applicable, a liability waiver.
Note: the Pro-Training is course is identical to the Pro-Training Instructor's course. The only distinction is the authority to teach and certify.
Instructor
The IAHD Instructor course is a professional course designed to instruct disabled people to dive and certify them. A certified IAHD Instructor in active teaching status is qualified to teach all recreational IAHD diving courses.
To participate in the IAHD Pro-Training an individual must:
1. Be a renewed Instructor member and in active teaching status with an internationally recognised diver training organisation and is qualified to train Open Water Divers. Proof of status must be submitted.
2. Submit a copy of a medical examination stating that the individual is fit for diving. The examination must have been conducted within the past twelve months.
3. Submit proof of training in First Aid / CPR within the past twenty four months.
4. Fill out and submit the IAHD Pro-Training application form and comply with the requirements listed.
5. Undersign and submit the Pro Member Agreement and, where applicable, a liability waiver.
